Window display by artist Johan De Wilde accompanying the new publication ‘Hands of Time’

21/01/2026

Belgian artist Johan De Wilde presented his fourth book, *Hands of Time / Les très riches heures de Jean le Sauvage*, in one of our shop windows. His oeuvre includes prints, paintings, photo series, graphic art, and collages, but he is best known for his intriguing, usually small-scale pencil drawings. Since the mid-1990s, he has been creating drawings meticulously constructed from thin horizontal and vertical lines, layer after layer, revealing hints of shapes and numbers. The technique suggests a certain speed of movement, reminiscent of the hazy quality of a film still or an out-of-focus photograph. Works by De Wilde were displayed in the shop window alongside the new book.
