Architect Jacques Dupuis (1914-1984), a key figure in 20th-century Belgian architecture, has been celebrated since the late 1990s with national and international publications, documentaries, and exhibitions. Several of his projects have been recognized as heritage sites in Brussels and the Flemish Region. Many of his works are on display during Heritage Days throughout the country. For over twenty years, analytical and interpretive studies in numerous architecture schools and faculties in Belgium and abroad have confirmed the enduring appeal of this exceptional oeuvre. Jacques Dupuis also actively participated in the construction of Expo 58.

His work continues to be analyzed and discussed in numerous architecture schools and faculties in Belgium and abroad, demonstrating the continued interest in this exceptional oeuvre.

The aim of this publication is to offer a more in-depth exploration of his projects in the Brussels Region. The book contains 18 texts by various authors and provides a comprehensive overview of his projects and completed works in Brussels. Several homeowners share their experiences living in these buildings and their timeless character. This collection illustrates the importance and recognition of Jacques Dupuis’s work.

Two texts discuss the situation of his projects in Flanders and Wallonia, and the book concludes with a reflection on a teaching experience. This concluding text highlights the architectural qualities explored in the publication, qualities that, over time, continue to inspire reflection on numerous aspects of living: the relationship with space, perceptual phenomena, the control of light and color, and the importance of materials and interior design.
