The Design Yearbook 2024–2026 is the first edition of a new reference series on contemporary design culture in Flanders. The publication brings together notable projects and new essays, documenting a field in rapid development. It highlights trends, stimulates reflection and aims to become a lasting point of reference for designers, researchers, curators, clients, policymakers and anyone with an interest in design. With this yearbook, Designpunt aims to document notable projects, highlight relevant developments and create space for reflection on Flemish design culture. The 2024–2026 edition marks the start of an annual reference series intended to document the sector’s evolution over time. The book showcases a design culture that does not focus exclusively on ‘form’, but is increasingly concerned with processes and relationships: between people and materials, between the individual and the community, between the past and the future, between the project and the system, and between design and the broader social context in which it emerges.
With this first edition, Designpunt lays the foundations for an annual reference series that brings the evolution of Flemish design culture to light. The yearbook aims not only to record what is happening today, but also to continue to fuel the conversation about the future of design.
