The concept of the catalog, which is intended not only to accompany the exhibition but also to complement it, was developed together with the collector. – Already after the first discussions in preparation for the exhibition, it became clear that it would not be possible to present this unusual collection of art from the 60s and 70s in its mature form. Not only because representative images function on an equal footing alongside inconspicuous “residues” of art activities or other traces of creative actions, but also because the collection as a whole circles expressions that occur in the intermediate field of being there and disappearing. Such things only really gain meaning and presence when you deal with them in two ways: you have to constantly acquire them in order to eliminate any thought of permanent possession. It is difficult to convey anything about the real function of such an established art collection in an exhibition. Here everything shows itself only in the fixed form of possession. The peculiar and personal coming together of the things appropriated cannot be represented; because every representation is a suspension of movement, where nothing flows into one another and constantly forms new individual structures.
