The New National Gallery, built between 1965 and 1968, is the only building designed by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in Germany after the Second World War. With its steel roof over the glazed exhibition hall and its reduced design language, it is considered an icon of modernism and the legacy of a visionary master builder.
