This hefty artist’s publication contains exclusively images by Antwerp artists Nel Aerts and Vaast Colson. Nel Aerts fills the right-hand pages with reproductions of five sketchbooks. The images show quickly created drawings and collages, sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative. Here and there she uses carbon paper, allowing the drawing to also appear on the back page. With this separation, she then continues working. The five sketchbooks are dated from September 11 to October 24, 2010. Meanwhile, greenish photos, taken from a fixed camera angle, appear on all the left-hand pages, showing Vaast Colson sleeping and then waking. The photos are initially dark, with little detail, but gradually brighten until The Master awakens. Intriguing in this artist’s book are the two different speeds evoked by the same page sequence.
