Each year, the HSBC Prize for Photography accompanies 2 winning photographers, who have never published a monographic work, in the production of a traveling exhibition accompanied by production assistance. In the depths of McDowell County in the state of West Virginia, one of the poorest in the whole country, Louise Honée went for nearly three years to observe a sacrificed America, decimated by the ruin of the ‘mining industry. In these black and white images, of great formal purity, Louise Honée was able to capture the solidarity, the natural benevolence of the small community, their tenderness too. She wants to understand what holds them back, what builds them. IN FRENCH!
