Belgian artist Louis Thevenet (1874–1930) was described by James Ensor as “master painter of the delights of South Brabant”. He stayed in various places, from the coast to Halle, where he spent the last fourteen years of his life. This book celebrates Thevenet’s one hundred and fiftieth birthday and delves deeper into his life and work. With numerous images, it offers a beautiful overview of the oeuvre of the idiosyncratic Brabant fauvist, who invariably painted everyday life around him. From an intimate living room to a picturesque landscape and a café interior: Louis Thevenet. A life in color presents dozens of paintings, including many never-before-published works.
Publication at the exhibition of the same name from March 23 to October 27, 2024 in the AST and Villa Servais in Halle. IN DUTCH!
