Today’s Europe seen through the eyes of Belgian photographer Lieve Blancquaert.

“A trip through Europe is a journey through many landscapes, cultures and histories. All kinds of languages are spoken, various traditions are celebrated and different dishes are eaten. The light is never the same here twice, the colors are nowhere identical. What they do share is is that they are, willingly or unwillingly, part of the same political project, they have the same background in common: the European Union. They all stand against that canvas – and now literally against Lieve Blancquaert’s canvas.” – Hendrik Vos

The fall of the Berlin Wall motivated photographer and journalist Lieve Blancquaert to undertake an epic journey across Europe with the camper. She searched for the roots of our identity in all 27 member states of the European Union. She wanted to hear and feel what holds us together and what divides us.

Her many personal encounters make it clear again and again that her own language, history, concerns, desires and dreams are much more universal than we might think at first glance. The Europeans do not exist, but we are still connected in many ways, whether we want it or not.

In hundreds of compelling images and dozens of colorful stories, Lieve Blancquaert shows the complexity, diversity and beauty of this vulnerable continent, as if in a travel diary. IN DUTCH!
