Yearbook Landscape Architecture and Urban Design in the Netherlands 2024

This Yearbook collects the best and most beautiful aspects of urban development and landscape architecture in the Netherlands from the past year. In the city centres of Alkmaar, Groningen and The Hague, a little softness appeared between the stones. In Ede, Arnhem and Amsterdam, vision and perseverance were used to work on long-term projects.

Old barracks and factory sites are now contemporary places to live. Impoverished city neighbourhoods have become liveable again with smart interventions, such as in Eindhoven, Utrecht and Maastricht. And a stream valley in the Brabant Kempen is developing into a testing ground for the transition of the rural area. Many projects look at connections and long lines. Sometimes even literally, such as a two-kilometre-long city park in Rotterdam.

The Yearbook was compiled by the editors of the magazine Blauwe Kamer. The selection of 18 projects was made by an independent committee of colleagues. Current themes are highlighted in interviews and articles.
