For nearly two decades, Belgian artist Rein Dufait (born 1990) has been creating material objects that exist in the world as works of art or artist publications, following a process (sometimes long, sometimes short) involving combinations of sculpting, filling, stacking, building, cutting, tearing, tying, painting, rubbing, flattening, welding, painting, carving, gluing, composing, sketching, coloring, and engraving. The materials he uses include cardboard, sand, wood, plastic, plexiglass, acrylic resin, paper, paint, and oil pastels.
“In de verte – de lucht” (In the distance – the air) presents works created between 2018 and 2025 and can be considered a sequel to “Things & Air” from 2018. Rein Dufait’s oeuvre is presented through various perspectives (reproductions, exhibition views, and artist publications). IN DUTCH!
