Sophie Nys (º1974, Borgerhout) studied at Sint-Lukas Ghent and finished a post-graduate program at Jan van Eyck in Maastricht. Using sculpture, photography, video, text and objects, she explores political, historical and social themes. She often starts from everyday items, local contexts or forgotten stories, transforming and reinterpreting them.

‘Two Revolutions a Day’ is the first comprehensive survey of Sophie Nys’ ceaselessly inventive and researched artistic practice, covering works and exhibitions from the early 2000s to the present. Structured around a wide-ranging conversation between Nys and critic Christophe Van Gerrewey, the book reveals the artist’s overlapping fascinations with history and power, psychology and relationships, design and book making, and – not least – language and its semantic slippages.
