John Van Oers (Edition of 150 copies)
John Van Oers, François de Coninck
In his works Belgian artist John Van Oers (°1967) is inspred by small fragments of daily life and scattered happenings. Some humour in the face of the gravity of matters, some seriousness in the face of light-heartedness. His sculptures are three-dimensional works that betray his affinity with architecture. He explores the boundaries between scale models, maquettes and sculpture. Although the human figure is never present, his works tell an autobiographical story about his immediate environment and experiences. But because they are softly abstracted, his stories become less clearly legible.
