French poet and writer Jacques Kober (1921-2015) met Aimé Maeght in 1944 and created with Les Éditions Pierre à Feu, a publication where painters illustrate the unpublished texts of writers. After the opening of the Galerie Maeght in Paris (at 13, rue de Téhéran) in October 1945, he was responsible for several exhibitions, luxury editions and in particular the magazine Derrière le Miroir.

This copy printed on Arches paper in an edition of 50, contains a foreword by Pierre Emmanuel, poems by Kober, a chapter ‘Racines’ (Roots) with a letter from Pierre Bonnard, an unpublished drawing by Miró, a reproduced gouache by Bram van Velde from 1979 and an separate etching by Mimmo Paladiono (27,5 x 21,5 cm), numbered and signed.
