Francesca Torzo (*1975, Padua, Italy) is an Italian architect who has run her own practice in Genoa since 2008. She studied architecture in Delft, Barcelona, Mendrisio, and Venice. She worked with Peter Zumthor and Bosshard Vaquer, and taught at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio. Since 2017, she has been a professor at the Bergen School of Architecture in Norway. In 2018, she participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale and chaired the Maarten Van Severen Foundation in Ghent from 2018 to 2019.

This is the first overview of the recent work of Francesca Torzo, illustrating a written and expanded version of a lecture she delivered at the 2022 Mies van der Rohe Award ceremony in Barcelona. The book includes a Q&A with Ellis Woodman and Elizabeth Hatz. Its title, Building Correctly is taken from Pier Luigi Nervi’s book Costruire correttamente (Milan: Hoepli, 1955) and offers a privileged insight in the conceptual framework of her built work.
