Luigi Figini (1903–1984) and Gino Pollini (1903–1991) were two Italian architects of the 20th century linked by a partnership that lasted more than 50 years.
Figini and Pollini are clearly rationalist and their initial choice is carried forward consistently through continuous work, which is evident in their constructions and projects and is constantly expressed in the search for balance between the ideals of the Modern Movement: form, function, economy, but also new harmony and beauty. Their work fits into what Italian architects were, especially after the Second World War of the 20th century, and that is an architecture of excellence in the project as an unrepeatable event, personal choice, original functionalism and high value. In their work one can read a formal simplicity, in the planimetric and perspective design, which speaks of light and architectural space, of time, of spirituality and poetry, as someone has said, and this creates an exceptional built environment as in the Madonna dei Poveri in Milan. Other works, instead, reveal the search for a harmonious design, a balance of relationships and a study of materials in a connection to that rationalism never forgotten in their architecture. IN ITALIAN!
