Erich Mendelsohn. The Complete Works
Birkhäuser, Basel, 1999
The young Mendelsohn became already famous with the construction in 1921 of the Einstein Tower in Potzdam, Germany. His two shops for Schocken in Stuttgart and Chemnitz, and his cinema complex in Berlin are among his top buildings. They are examples of how dynamic forms can go together with constructive purity and expressionist plasticity.
In 1933 he emigrated to Great Britain and Palestine, and from 1941 untill his death he worked in the USA.
