The minimalist constructions of the award-winning Italian architect Claudio Silvestrin (b. 1954) are modern, innovative and often daring, but they never act unifying or even monotonic. His architecture appears “austere but not extreme, contemporary yet timeless, calm yet not spartan, powerful yet not intimidating, elegant but not ostentatious, and understated yet not soulless”. In his interior design there is a feeling of meditative serenity, leading him to declare that it is “architecture for contemplation and our inner self – most of all for our soul”.
The creative process is the most perfect building still clearly traceable, behind a superficial simplicity hides a complex and deeply humane concept. Understatement instead of pomp – this also like his prominent builders such as George Armani or Kanye West. It offers rich and high-quality illustrated, a multi-faceted overview of the completed buildings and also presents projects in the planning stage. The unusual conception of space and its grandiose coupled enclosure at Silvestrin can not be adequately conveyed in book form. Its special, very close bond with the earth and nature can be seen in each of its architecture – even if it is one flagship store, a hotel, a cafe or a museum. A separate chapter was devoted to Silvestrin’s furniture, installations and writings.
