The office of Bearth & Deplazes Architekten made international headlines in 2009 with the project development and realization of the New Monte Rosa Hut in Zermatt. Valentin Bearth, Andrea Deplazes, and Daniel Ladner have also made their mark in contemporary Swiss architecture with numerous other structures. In addition to homes and schools, the portfolio of the firm, which was founded in 1988, includes the Gantenbein Winery in Fläsch (2006), the ÖKK insurance firm headquarters’ white, exposed concrete façade opening in huge arches in Landquart, (2012), and the unique ceiling construction of the courtroom in Bellinzona (2013).
The publication Amurs (Loves) concentrates on a choice group of nineteen structures. The title refers to the fact that these projects were the architects’ personal selection; illustrated with large-format photos by Tonatiuh Ambrosetti and Ralf Feiner. An essay by Iso Camartin, publicist and writer from Graubünden, offers an introduction to the work of the architects.
