This publication offers an opportunity to re-discover Dutch Bas Jan Ader (1942-1975), a conceptual artist who, despite his early death, became legendary among insiders and a seminal figure for subsequent generations of artists. Exactly 50 years ago, Bas Jan Ader set off in a small sailing boat to cross the Atlantic. This was part of an artistic trilogy that he called “In Search of the Miraculous.” Since then, there has been no trace of him.
