Throughout 1965-1975, Italian, Austrian, British, American, Dutch, and French architects questioned the forms of architecture, embedded in a cultural context dominated by the definition of a new industrial society. Andrea Branzi provided a first definition: “Radical architecture is situated within a broader movement of human liberation from the tendencies of contemporary culture, individual liberation considered as a rejection of all formal and moral parameters which, acting as inhibiting structures, make it difficult for the complete realization of the individual.” In this sense, the term “radical architecture” indicates more than a unitary movement, a “cultural place,” an energetic trend.
