Aoki Ryo (1953-2005) devoted much of his life to creating ceramic pieces using a variety of techniques, among them white slip glaze, brush marks, iron glaze, white glaze, and firing without glaze. During his lifetime, he built up a large collection of his own favourite works and had expressed the desire to exhibit them, not for sale but as artworks. This monograph, made possible with the support of Aokis wife, Shoko, is a remarkable photographic record of this fine collection of tea bowls, jars, dishes, cups, vessels for sake, and more. The books production team visited Aokis atelier over a period of three years to document the objects and take detailed photographs for this project.
