Voyageur infatigable, Albert Marquet sillonne la côte normande de 1903 à 1937 au cours de sept séjours (Flamanville, Le Havre, Fécamp, Trouville, Honfleur, Rouen, Vieux-Port et Dieppe) où il est entraîné par Henri Manguin puis Raoul Dufy, Henri Matisse, Paul Signac et Félix Vallotton. Il y trouve un terrain d’expérimentation pour son travail sur la couleur et les motifs qu’il ne cessera de peindre toute sa vie bien au-delà de la Normandie : le monde maritime, le port et ses activités humaines, la plage, les bateaux et avant tout l’eau dont il a gardé le goût depuis son enfance bordelaise.

ENG.: A tireless traveler, Albert Marquet traveled the Normandy coast from 1903 to 1937 during seven stays (Flamanville, Le Havre, Fécamp, Trouville, Honfleur, Rouen, Old Port and Dieppe) where he was trained by Henri Manguin then Raoul Dufy, Henri Matisse, Paul Signac and Felix Vallotton. He found there a field of experimentation for his work on color and patterns that he never stopped painting all his life far beyond Normandy: the maritime world, the port and its human activities, the beach, the boats and above all the water he has kept a taste for since his childhood in Bordeaux.
