Very nice designed publication, in perfect condition.
Since the 1960s, the German-Italian gallerist and publisher Egidio Marzona (b. 1944) has amassed one of the largest and most important collections of 20th-century avant-garde art. This comprehensive collection, comprising works of American and European Conceptual Art, Minimal Art, and Arte Povera, has been housed at the National Museums in Berlin since 2002. This book presents the collection in its entirety for the first time. Organized alphabetically, it addresses representative ideas, individual artists, key historical exhibitions, and artistic genres of the 1960s and 70s. For example, the opening chapter provides an overview of the Italian art movement Arte Povera. “Action” explores performative aspects of art, while “Cube” focuses on geometric forms, which play a significant role in Minimal Art. Each chapter, or letter, is introduced by a short text, including original historical texts, some of which are published in German translation for the first time. This comprehensive collection of material makes the book a new and indispensable standard work.
