Bram Bogart (1921–2012) was a Dutch/Belgian abstract painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and designer.
Bram Bogart was already one of the most progressive artists of Informal painting in the 1950s, incorporating both action painting and dripping. Because of the tranquility of his work and the masses of material, his work is often considered material painting. From the 1980s onward, geometric and monochrome works alternated with paintings composed of enormous “paint dots,” which formed a more or less regular pattern that defined the painting. Because the paint material is such a prominent part of the artwork, Bogart’s work is also considered material painting, but Bogart remained true to his material: oil paint. IN DUTCH AND FRENCH!
