Livio Vacchini (1933-2007) was a Swiss architect. He was part of the ‘Ticino School’ and represented the new-rationalist wing. Vacchini designed many buildings in Switzerland. He designed several school buildings in Locarno, as well as the newly built main post office in this city. Vacchini was also active in other parts of the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino. He was responsible for a major renovation of the Piazza del Sole in the cantonal capital Bellinzona. One of the greatest challenges for Vacchini was the construction of the school of architecture in Nancy, France.
