Catalog of the exhibition presented at the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen, from April 5 to September 2, 2019. The exhibition highlights the village of Varengeville-sur-Mer which saw a real colony of artists forming in the first half of the 20th century, around the tutelary figures of Georges Braque and the architect Paul Nelson. In 1937, the American sculptor Alexander Calder and the Catalan painter Joan Miró both spend the summer in Varengeville: they contribute to the model of the Hanging House of Paul Nelson and the latter acquires several of their works, Miró going up to to realize a monumental fresco in his living room.
