At the intersection of heritage and influence, the exhibition showcase more than 250 artworks, historical, contemporary and inspired by this major italian artistic movement in the 1960’s. « Arte povera » enlighten its italian birth as much as its international influence through the work of thirteen main artists of the movement : Giovanni Anselmo, Alighiero Boetti, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Luciano Fabro, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Giulio Paolini, Pino Pascali, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Emilio Prini et Gilberto Zorio.
The Arte povera catalogue follows the exhibition path and begins with a section specifically conceived for the occasion by five artists (Giulio Paolini, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Gilberto Zorio, Pier Paolo Calzolari et Giuseppe Penone). An introduction text by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, the exhibition curator, and extended essais by Fabio Cafagna, Gabriele Guercio, Marcella Beccaria, Nicolas-Xavier Ferrand, Riccardo Passoni and Silvia Maria Sara Cammarata, accompany a serie of photographies showing the peak of the movement through exceptionnal images of the artists, their studios and exhibitions. The publication presents all twenty-four display cases of the Passage, welcoming for the occasion works from Arte povera pionners and, in dedicated chapters, the thirteen artists displayed in the Rotonde. It ends with a presentation of the work of thirteen artists who were inspired and influenced by the Arte povera.
