The Dutch collective We Make Carpets has spent the past decade transforming everyday objects and materials into site-specific installations, and has taken the world by storm since its formation in 2009. With hard work and meticulous placement identical materials or objects are placed in ever-changing patterns and directions, generating unexpected results. The added value of We Make Carpets gives to these everyday materials inspires viewers, perhaps for the very first time, to appreciate the true beauty of objects they have seen, used and discarded hundreds of times before.

The book shows 28 installations made between 2014 and 2020. Full color spreads are accompanied by texts of curators, visitors and colleagues. The book gives insights into the way of working of the collective, their inspirations and the diversity of the locations of their shows including: 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in Tokyo, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
