The Architecture of Gerrit Th. Rietveld
Toto Publishing, Tokyo, 2009
Up until this edition there have been surprisingly few substantial surveys of Gerrit Rietveld’s architectural output – a situation which this publication has corrected. This publication presents breathtaking new high quality interior and exterior photographs of all buildings, accompanied by plans, sketches, models, and explanatory essays. The twenty buildings examined here in chronological order include the architect’s maiden work – the UNESCO listed Rietveld Schröder House; the Visser, Van Dalen and Van Dantzig Houses; the Netherlands Pavilion for the 1954 Venice Biennale; the Textile Factory De Ploeg; and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Also included is a comprehensive list of all architectural and furniture works realised.
