This inspiration book is the new standard work in Dutch school construction. On 540 pages, the book describes no fewer than 107 projects in primary, special and secondary education that were realized in the period 2015 – 2020.
The Inspiration Book also provides an overview of all functions and activities within the documented projects and an overview of the size and construction costs during the period 2015-2020 in which they were taken into use. The book outlines the trends within the different types of education and also contains fascinating contributions by the eco-philosopher Henk Oosterling, scientist Harold Bekkering, education artist Sjef Drummen, transition strategist Atto Harsta, figurehead of Room OK Marco van Zandwijk and architect Thomas Rau. In addition, the book contains a study from the Center for People and Buildings (CfPB) in which lecturers were questioned about the quality of their learning and working environment; in this time of a pressing teacher shortage a topical theme.
With this new standard work, author and compiler Sibo Arbeek wants to stimulate future clients. He uses the concept of “meaningful environment” that has been elaborated in nine specific characteristics in this book. For each of the 107 projects, the most defining characteristics are indicated, with which the reader can easily discover the qualities of each project. Each project tells the story from the user and the partners involved in the process of designing, building and furnishing. The articles are richly illustrated with beautiful photos and plans and the relevant project data. IN DUTCH!
