This publication gives a survey of twenty years of his art. Many works are preliminary studies or reproductions in miniatures of his larger scale works.
In these days of internet and globalisation, Van Caeckenbhe works like an ‘encyclopédiste’ who, like a man of science, investigates and makes classifications of very personal and absurd facts about the worls of animals and insects, the globe, human anatomy, etc.
He makes interventions with assemblages, drawings and collages: ‘bricolages’, very often inspired by images of popular books and nineteenth century scientific publications.
