In this publication accompanying their exhibition, Belgian designers Fien Muller (b. 1978) and Hannes Van Severen (b. 1979) emphasize that the intention was to create a total installation in which they could further develop their shared language and identity. In practice, they do not work as designers but as sculptors. The Frames series originated from a flat metal plate. In doing so, they limited themselves to two basic actions: cutting and folding. The space was transformed into a universe in which objects, sculptures and architecture seamlessly complement and reinforce each other. Whereas previously they usually worked within certain production frameworks with limitations in size or weight, they were now able to let go of the boundaries and create a spatial experience that feels all-encompassing.
