Jean Paul Gaultier From A to Z is a colorful overview of the ‘enfant terrible’ of French fashion spanning more than five decades. The work is shown from A to Z with iconic garments such as Madonna’s corsets and Kylie Minogue’s stage costumes.

Gaultier’s unique aesthetic is presented from diverse perspectives and sources of inspiration – from cinema to dance, from sailors to Frida Kahlo. Gaultier infused his work with humanism, kicked with pleasure and humor against the codes of haute couture and of our society, and created an inclusive fashion with a pluralistic understanding of beauty, accompanied by a social message. The street, one of the main sources of inspiration for his prophetic vision of a society based on diversity and difference, is for him a world where multiculturalism, androgyny and metamorphoses, powerful women and ‘male objects’ meet. Whether it’s film or men’s skirts, punks or Parisiennes, animals or nature, the sources of inspiration are endless and inexhaustible.

Jean Paul Gaultier From A to Z is both a tribute to and a fundamental overview of one of the greatest couturiers of the past half century.
