lsamu Noguchi (1904-1988) est à la fois sculpteur et designer, attaché à l’artisanat le plus traditionnel comme aux découvertes les plus avant-gardistes, il a évolué, tout au long de sa carrière, entre Orient et Occident.
Formé aux États-Unis après une enfance passée au Japon, Noguchi s’installe à Paris en 1927, où il devient l’assistant de Constantin Brancusi, il côtoie les grands noms de l’art moderne tels que Alberto Giacometti, Juan Miró ou encore Alexander Calder qui forgeront sa conception de la matérialité de la sculpture, Il se passionne également pour le rapport entre sculpture, espace et corps, souhaitant “dépasser l’art des objets”.
