Ingrid Castelein
Artist and professor at the Royal Academy of Arts, Ghent, °1953 Deinze Ingrid Castelein is every inch a painter. Nature and landscapes are abstracted to subdued monochrome in her works or they are vibrating, intensely coloured compositions. When asked what books mean to her, she answered without hesitation: “Everything!” Her house and studio are bursting with books. Ingrid chooses works about painting and sculpture, but photography fascinates her as well. She is interested in the ‘classic’ masters but also in contemporary, even conceptual artists. She reads more theoretical works, too, especially in her capacity as a lecturer. November 2010 |
