Christian designs furniture, buildings and squares. He is also an exhibition curator and set designer. In other words, he's a uomo universale!
He designed the furniture for Copyright Ghent, i.e. tables, cupboards and counter. The next step is to remodel our entrance.
It's great working with Christian. We have known each other for so long, he instinctively understands what we have in mind. Yet every design comes as a surprise to us - because we're not very good at reading plans and so never know exactly what we'll be getting!
His library contains books about both classical and contemporary architecture, art and photography. That day he chose a pile of books, including Peter Eisenman's 'Ten Canonical Buildings' because he believes it provides an interesting approach when it comes to teaching his students to look and analyze. Also 'Elmgreen & Dragset' (he loved their installation at 'Skulptur Münster' summer 2007), Maurizio Cattelan's mini-monograph, writings by the painter Gerhard Richter, a little book by Joachim Koester (who he has been following for ten years) and the books of photographic work by August Sander and Wolfgang Tillmans.
