Frederic loves beautiful, pure, precious things. After studying interior design, he did a year's work placement with John Pawson in London. After that he followed a fashion course at the Instituto Marangoni in Milan and spent five years working as a fashion designer with his own collection. In the end he decided that his passion for design and art, inherited from his mother Greta Meert, was greater than his passion for fashion. Frederic now works in the Greta Meert Gallery in Brussels and has his own shop specializing in design from the 1950s and 60s. He buys architecture and design books mainly as study material. He collects art books either because they are so attractive to look at or as information for exhibitions he visits. He also likes to keep up with publications about artists from the gallery. He chose a book about Achille Castglioni, the catalogue Rodschenko/Popova, and books about Robert Mangold, Fred Sandback and Poul Kjaerholm. March 2009 |
