New and innovative design concepts are applied to the ancient craft of jewelry making at the Fachhochschule at Idar-Oberstein, Germany's historic center of the jewelry and gem trade. This unique school, established 10 years ago, has devoted itself to establishing a fresh and innovative approach to the use of traditional materials - gems and precious metals - in the designing and crafting of modern jewelry. This book presents the best of the master students' work, beautifully presented and photographed in a manner consistent with the innovative creativity of the jewelry on display here.
