Today, Copyright Ghent still occupies the same building in Jakobijnenstraat.

Dating from ca. 1840, it is a typical town mansion with three interconnecting rooms, parquet floors, stucco ceilings and marble fireplaces.

Untill 1970 it was the residence of the noble family de Hemptinne.

The shop was initially furnished by artist Patrick Van Caeckenbergh and Kathleen Daelman with respect for the homely atmosphere of the interior. Patrick’s home-made counter and tables consisting of gas pipes and wooden boards proved indestructible and are still in use as work tables in the stock room. As our budget was very small, family and friends helped us with the move and with the painting and cleaning.

The first floor was initially intended as an exhibition space.
